If you know me in RL (that’s kid speak for real life-I am SUCH a millennial haha), you know I can always be found with at least 3 books on the go at once. I still remember my first book I read completely on my own, with very few pictures. I’ve spoken of it before and I am actually reading it to Q at the moment. Ah, memories! So, obviously, I have lots of books on lots of subjects I want to share! I mentioned 3 on Women’s Wellness Wednesday but here is the complete list of books that have helped me to truly start to understand my cycle and my worth as a woman.
Wild Power: This book is by the founders of The Red School and it is immense. ‘As a woman you are coded for power, and the journey to realizing the fullness and beauty of that power – your Wild Power – lies in the rhythm and change of your menstrual cycle.‘ It helps you to understand your cycle and how to tap into the power that comes with being a woman but it does so in an east to read/digest way with humour.
Moon Time: This book has the coveted spot at Number 1 on Menstruation on the Amazon charts! Lucy H. Peace provides an easy read on learning to live in flow with your cycle and to find that all time coveted balance that is unique to you. One thing I loved about this book is the extra information on creating ‘Red Tent’ ceremonies and gives information about celebrating menarche, the mother blessing, menopause. A well rounded book to dive into!
Period Power: This is a more recent read (published around the same time as Wild Power) but I feel is aimed at a younger, trendier crowd. It can get overwhelming with ALL the information so one you may dip in and out of as you need. It is a pretty meaty book with lots of data and science on our hormones, too!
Period Repair Manual: Probably the most well known book and author, this book came highly recommended to me due to my period pain. Lara Briden helps you to come off birth control naturally as well as teaches you what your cycle should actually be like. She helps you to understand how to speak to your GP as well as talks about topics like PCOS, endometriosis.
The Optimized Woman: This one is slightly different in the sense that it helps you to understand your optimal times to do things in a business (though you can totally tweak this for your own personal life!). This book gave me insight on how to use my own personal cycle to achieve and realise my goals as well as when best to action them.

Reaching for the Moon: If you have daughters or nieces or work with young girls or those who bleed, this book is for you! Another great one by Lucy H. Pearce, Reaching for the Moon shares a message of empowerment and beauty of the menstrual cycle to young people who are starting their journey. This book will definitely be in my daughter’s bleeding box to be presented to her on the start of her journey.
