What should I wear and bring?

Clothing should be loose and comfortable, but not too baggy. You don’t want to get caught up in it. You may want to wear a more form fitting top underneath a looser one as the shirt can ride up when doing inversions. You will need to bring your own mat and some people prefer to bring a drink.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Yoga is suitable for almost everyone, young and old!

If you are newly pregnant and not an experienced yoga, it is recommended that you wait until your second trimester to begin practising pre-natal yoga. If you have any injuries, you need to speak to your yoga teacher prior to starting the class and they will recommend precautions for you to take or recommend another form of exercise if they do not think Yoga is suitable. Most Ashtangis prefer not to practice during menstruation. If you do practice during menstruation, take it slow and easy. If you have heavy periods, you may want to avoid any inversions as that can cause the flow to become even heavier.

Will it be uncomfortable or painful?

It should NEVER be uncomfortable or painful. You have to listen to your own body and if a pose feels uncomfortable or painful, come out of it safely. Please do not stay in any position that is not good for you or your body.

What can I expect in one of your classes?

I try to keep my classes upbeat, with an element fun. You can expect lots of laughter and camaraderie during the class and expect to leave feeling refreshed, renewed, and full of energy. I take the time to adjust the poses of my students.
