We all need a bit of intelligence to come our way. Well, I do, maybe not you 🙂 Stress is a part of pretty much everyone over the age of 2’s life. It makes us dumber. Your yoga practice can literally help your mind and body to relax and become calm and still. These 2 poses help you to remember how to relax and breathe.
Viparita Karani (Legs up the wall Pose)
Surprisingly simple, you recline on your back with your legs up the wall 🙂 Try to practice this pose for 5 minutes. You may need to build up to this amount of time as your legs may go a bit tingly after only a short time but be patient-it is a wonderful pose!
Pretty much everyone’s favourite pose (not mine, though. I think it’s because I wear glasses hah). It is an easy fix to help battle anxiety and fatigue and can be done in pretty much any outfit!
Start on all fours and spread your knees apart as far as it is comfortable for you with your big toes touching. Hinge forward from your hips and fold over or between your thighs. If your head doesn’t rest comfortably on the floor just yet, don’t force it. Use yoga blocks, a folded blanket or pillow, or even stacked fists and relax in this pose for as long as it takes to get your breathing normal again and to feel relaxed.
So these poses MAY not increase your IQ very quickly BUT they will help you relax. We don’t not make the best decisions when we are fearful or anxiety ridden. This is the state of our brains more often than not and it is nice to have a few poses to help calm and relax you. Give them a try and let me know how you get on!
